Training policies

Enrolment, cancellation, lab use, certificates and learner data. Version draft-2026-08-02.

These terms are in draft and awaiting legal review

They describe how we intend training to work and are published here so nothing is hidden. No paid enrolment is open while they remain in draft. When they are finalised the version identifier changes, and the version recorded against any existing enrolment stays as it was.

Enrolment

  • You must be 18 or older to enrol in training that includes lab access.
  • A place is confirmed when payment has cleared, or immediately where a path or class is free. Until then a seat may be held for a short period and then released.
  • The terms and cancellation policy in force at the moment you register are recorded against your enrolment. A later revision of this page does not change the terms you agreed to.
  • Enrolment is personal. Access is not transferable between people, and shared accounts are withdrawn.

Cancellation and refunds

  • If we cancel a class or path, you are told directly and receive a full refund of anything paid for the cancelled element, or a place on the next equivalent run if you prefer.
  • If you withdraw before a path or class begins, the refund terms recorded at registration apply.
  • If you withdraw after starting, we look at what has been delivered and consumed — including lab time and mentor sessions — and respond in writing.
  • Where a career path is paid in instalments, withdrawing stops future instalments from the date we acknowledge your request in writing.

Lab acceptable use

  • Lab environments are provided for the exercises in your path or course, and for nothing else.
  • You must not use a lab to attack, scan or interact with any system outside it, including our own infrastructure and any third party.
  • You must not use a lab to host services, mine cryptocurrency, store personal data, or run anything unrelated to the exercise.
  • You must not attempt to reach other learners' environments, and you must not attempt to escape the environment you were given.
  • Significant actions inside a lab may be recorded so that an instructor can review your work and so that misuse can be investigated.
  • Environments are destroyed when the access window ends. Anything you want to keep must be written into your own notes or project submission before then.

Certificates of Completion

  • Where a path or course issues one, the credential is a Certificate of Completion and nothing more.
  • It records the work you completed with us. It is not an accreditation, it is not issued by a certification body, it is not a licence or qualification, and it carries no claim about employment or earnings.
  • A certificate is issued when the completion requirements stated on the path page are met — including, where a capstone is required, a reviewer accepting it.
  • A certificate may be withdrawn if it is found to have been issued in error or obtained dishonestly.

Conduct

  • Live classes, mentor sessions and group activities are shared spaces. Harassment, discrimination and abuse are not tolerated and result in removal without refund.
  • Submitting work that is not your own, where the exercise asked for your own, is treated as a completion failure rather than a lesser problem — the whole point of the assessment is that the record is true.
  • Recording a live session without the consent of everybody present is not permitted.

Learner data

  • We collect what is needed to deliver the training and to reply to you: your name, contact details, the enrolment record, your progress, and any accessibility requirements you choose to tell us about.
  • We do not require a date of birth, a home address, or any government identifier to enrol.
  • Transactional email about your enrolment is sent regardless of marketing preferences, because you need it. Marketing email is only sent if you opt in, and opting out never affects transactional messages.
  • Payment card details are handled by our payment processor and never reach our systems.
  • Progress and completion records are retained so a certificate remains verifiable. Retention periods are set out in the site privacy notice.

Accessibility

  • Tell us what you need at registration, or at any point afterwards, and we will do what we reasonably can — including live captions, extended lab access windows, and alternative formats for written material.
  • If any part of the training or this website is difficult to use, tell us. We would rather fix it than have you work around it.
